CANNOCK SENIORS (name of site - not a group)
forward with hope Created by Les Cooper, a resident of Cannock Chase (recognised area of outstanding beauty) from birth 3 September 1936. Throughout campaigning I have been ably supported by Pat ('Trice) - the better half.
Having retired from fulltime employment in 1998, spent a few months taking things easy and contemplating the future, before taking a part-time job as co-ordinator with The Mediation Service in Park Road, Cannock. This was an enlightening experience and mediation focused on helping married couples/partnerships where situations had developed beyond reconciliation; welfare of children was a major factor. After 2 years I called it a day, and at the age of 66 finally gave up my other past-time as semi-professional vocalist Lee Andrews.
With time on my hands reported news became more depressing, and I eventually decided to start having my say. In January 2003, having discovered the National Pensioners Convention (NPC), my wife (Pat) and I first joined Wolverhampton Branch and subsequently also became members of North Staffs Branch.
One of my main concerns is the state of Pensions, particularly for those having to endure the rigours of government's 'dolly mixtures' scheme that uses Means Testing as its main assessment tool to decide which of us are entitled to larger crumbs of financial assistance.
Having been webmaster for Grey Wolves (www.greywolves.co.uk) I eventually relinquished that duty and created my own site.
So here we are at Cannock Seniors (name of site, not a group) that you have now found, Thank you for visiting.
Pat ('Trice) - the better half.
This is a lady who, despite a series of ailments, has been and still is active on a number of fronts. Campaigning with me for a fairer deal for pensioners, member of Cannock Partially Sighted group (she is registered Partially Sighted), and also worked as a volunteer with Huntington Girls Brigade when our granddaughter attended the school. Pat has worn well even though having to put up with me for 50+ years could have taken its toll. We celebrated our Golden Wedding 11 August 2006.
